John has resided in Gig Harbor with his family for 27 years. He became interested in pottery after retiring from the business world five years ago. That's when his training started with Christopher Mathie, an accomplished potter in Gig Harbor. John prefers to work on the wheel and experiments with different shapes and glazes. He embellishes his work with a variety of natural items, such as shells, wood, beads, metal and other organic materials. Much of his work uses raku firing techniques, but he also experiments in other ceramic technologies.
